Found on a Windows computer used in a Siemens industrial/plant environment. The executable appears to have been present on the system for approximately 18 months and corrupting our system for most of that time. The code attempts to modify Siemens S7 DB values and Modbus coils/registers, establishes Windows Startup persistence by copying itself as aphp.exe, hides its console window, and repeatedly modifies PLC data.
The apparent Allen-Bradley functionality appears incorrectly implemented using Snap7/TS7Client rather than an EtherNet/IP/CIP client.
PLC modification by the executable has not been independently confirmed; the behavioral assessment is based on static source-code analysis by reverse engineering.
Our IT has not found a related malware family so they are calling it S7Flip.
